 Tripura is a state of Northeast India. Country's third smallest state, it covers 10,491 km2 (4,051 square miles) and its boundary is from Bangladesh to North, South and West, and in the east is the Indian state of Assam and Mizoram. In 2011 there were 3,671,032 resident in the state, which had 0.3% share of the country's population. Tripuri dynasty ruled for a number of centuries in the modern 'Tripura' region. It was an independent state of Tripuri kingdom under the preservation of the British Empire, which was known as Hill Tippera, whereas this area was ruled and ruled by British India, which was known as Teepra District (present day Comilla district) . In 1949, the independent Tripuri Empire (or Hill Tippera) joined the new independent India. Due to ethnic conflict between the indigenous Tripuri people and the migrant Bengali population due to the Bengali Hindu refugees and settling with Bangladesh, there has been tension and scattered violence since the integration.
